Gerard Séguin has been fundraising for charities for 20 years. He has worked for not-for-profit organizations of all shapes and sizes, including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Good Shepherd Centres and, before relocating to Ottawa last year, the Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation at Hamilton Health Sciences. He has been a part-time lecturer on marketing and development, and a full-time supporter of his home communities as an active Rotarian and volunteer board member. Gerard will celebrate his two-year anniversary as chief development officer with the Ottawa Public Library Foundation in June 2010. Gerard and his partner, Susan Callan, spend their spare time enjoying the antics of their new son, Oliver.

In December 2008 Heather Maclachlan sold her share in Epicuria, a catering business that she co-founded in 1990. Her goal was to make the transition from businesswoman to professional fundraiser. She is a past president of the Women’s Business Network of Ottawa (WBN) and a member of the fundraising committee at L’Arche Ottawa, a remarkable community for adults with intellectual disabilities. In 2008, the WBN named Heather “Businesswoman of the Year” in the entrepreneur category. She holds a degree from York University, a certificate from the Management Development Program for Women at Carleton University, and is completing the Fundraising Management program at Algonquin College.

For more than twenty years, Kathleen Brooks has worked in the charity sector, with The Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation, Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation and CNIB. Her extensive experience ranges from organizing special events and fundraising campaigns to donor recognition programs and capital campaigns. She has been a writer, researcher, administrator, and teacher. Born and raised in Ottawa, Kathleen gains much pleasure from her children and grandchildren.
