Raising Awareness of the Library and What it Means to our Community.
Please join The Friends of the Ottawa
Public Library Association and The Ottawa Public Library Foundation
in the Love Our Libraries 2010 campaign to raise awareness of
the library and what library programs and services mean to the community.
We are offering several tools to help
you spread the word and be informed and active during the upcoming municipal
elections. Thank you for your support. By spreading the word about library
services and what they mean to us, we can keep our libraries and the
communities they serve strong now, during the upcoming municipal elections,
and always.

Love our Libraries 2010 All-Candidate Survey
We are conducting an all-candidate survey
to determine where the candidates stand on each of the 16 priorities
in the Strategic Plan prepared by the Library's Board of Trustees.
We will share the responses from the candidates in a report to be published
on this website in the end of September. Until then, you might consider
asking your candidates if they support the library priorities and if
they have participated in the survey.
Download a copy of
the questionnaire to see what we are asking the candidates.

Each day the Ottawa Public Library opens its doors to the people of Ottawa, giving us pleasure and hope. It supports our work, instructs and entertains us. It allows children to have fun and experience the joy of reading. It helps business people and those who want to start careers. It is a free resource open to all.
The Ottawa Public Library has deep roots in the Ottawa Valley. Its many branches are open to each of us, serving our distinct communities and neighbourhoods. A strong public library sustains the entire city. It supports our diversity and individuality while bringing us together.
When you give a gift to the Ottawa Public Library Foundation, your generosity supports a wonderful public library and helps build a strong community.

Mission Statement:
"To build support and raise funds essential to the success of the Ottawa Public Library.”
The Foundation supports the Library in fulfilling its mission of "building a strong Ottawa community by supporting literacy and lifelong learning, fostering inspiration and enjoyment, and connecting people to each other and the world.
The Ottawa Public Library Foundation was established in April 2002 by volunteers with the support of the city and the consent of the Ottawa Public Library. Its purpose is to raise funds essential to the success of the Ottawa Public Library, in promoting literacy and lifelong learning. We seek philanthropic donations from individuals and corporations to help maintain and preserve the Ottawa Public Library as a major bilingual public institution and a key cultural site for the city. A goal of the OPLF is to ensure that the library’s resources and programs remain freely and openly accessible to everyone.
We are a registered charity.
